Job Description

The key accountabilities of the role will be:
Working closely with the UK head office design team with respect to new trends & requirements for the upcoming season, & translating them locally by working with the mills & vendors and the India product development team
Overseeing the sampling process each season with respect to meeting requirements on product, process and timelines, working closely with the product development team & the UK head office
Working with the vendors & internal team at the beginning of the season to ensure that the correct prices are being quoted at the development stage
Identifying the correct vendor for the various products & taking into account price, quality, delivery & capacity parameters
Being resp for all production orders shipped out of the factories with respect to quality, delivery time & the required Superdry guidelines
Working on price negotiation at order confirmation stage of all confirmed styles using the levers of volume and economic trends etc
Undertaking historical analysis of orders placed with the vendors & following a balanced business approach among the vendor matrix, incorporating strong competitiveness & capability, and having an equitable placement amongst the existing vendor base
Undertaking detailed order status reviews through critical path management, maintaining agreed dates, monitoring progress with team members & following reporting process to head office
Liaising with the UK head office team to make sure the flow of information is smooth & regular and the correct & relevant details are passed on by the India team
Constantly identifying new growth areas in terms of fabrics & product categories by working closely with the mills and vendors to bring newness from a local sourcing perspective
Planning seasonal orders & capacity with the factories based on buy forecasts
Managing a team of merchandisers – planning their workload, monitoring progress & resolving issues & bottlenecks on a regular basis


Key Skill

  • What we’re looking for
    To be considered, you must have:

    Bachelors or Masters degree in garment manufacturing, textiles or merchandising from a reputable institute or university
    Significant professional experience in apparel merchandising, sourcing, development or production, preferably working with sourcing bases within the Indian subcontinent
    Good experience of working with branded apparel buyers in Europe, preferably with reputable brands in the UK
    Sound knowledge of garmenting, fabrication, production process of multiple products including jersey and woven. An understanding of washing processes is highly desirable
    Good understanding of quality control levels required in a branded environment
    Good overall product knowledge of various fabrications including knits and woven and processing, finishing, printing techniques, processes and their limitations
    Strong knowledge of fabric costs and the ability to calculate approximate fabric consumptions for a garment

Eligibility Criteria

  • Strong ability to offer cost alternatives in terms of garment construction changes, fabric changes, detailing alterations
    Strong awareness of CM costs of different products
    Ability to negotiate efficiently with factories on price, delivery and any bottlenecks arising on a day to day basis
    Awareness of fabric costs and updates on the same on account of raw material costs and currency fluctuations
    Ability to stay abreast of market trends, competitors and other factors like raw material costs and currency etc that might impact price
    Ability to judge the strengths, capabilities and weaknesses of the vendors
    Strong ability to work on order placements within capacity planning parameters
    Ability to report, communicate and present effectively with a strong command of English. Should also be able to communicate fluently with vendors and related parties in the local language
    Strong project management and organisational skills
    Good knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and Power P
