Job Description

Create pattern templates using working drawings through either or more of the following depending
which one is the most effective and long term solution:
Pattern dummies – draping pieces of material over a dummy shaping and pinning them around the ‘body’ until they fit correctly, then cutting out a pattern based on the pieces
Pattern blocks - altering and shaping flat, standard pattern ‘blocks’ in style
Pattern bases – modifying non-standard pattern bases from existing pattern library
Computer generated models for pattern dimensions based on sizes and property of material
Determine the best layout of pattern pieces to minimize waste of material and make fabric accordingly
Assist in the costing of the item based on style and amount of materials used
Create a paper pattern from which to mass produce a design concept with details outlining adjoining
parts, position of pleats, pockets, buttonholes and other features using drafting instrument
Work with machinist to make samples of the designs
Inspect and identify issues/challenges with sample garment before it is approved for production
Train a Timorese counterpart on the pattern cutting roles so, s/he is capable of independently
performing those tasks

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate/diploma in pattern making, fashion designing or other relevant disciplines with relevant experience of 5-10 years in pattern cutting in similar product line
Experience in working in garment factories with less than 500 staff
Detail oriented and fine sewing and cutting skills
Ability to work in a team, including close coordination with designers
Has technical drawing skills (computer and hand)
Experience in training and managing a team
Ability to speak Bahasa/Tetun will be an advantage
Strong communication skills
