GHCL Ltd. was incorporated in the year 1983 as Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited with the objective of manufacturing Soda Ash, an industrial chemical.
The plant was commissioned in April 1988 at Sutrapada, Gujarat which was the largest joint sector company in the Country at that time. Over a period of time, besides manufacturing Soda Ash, the company entered into various other businesses, namely Home Textiles, Cotton Yarn and Consumer Products. To truly reflect our diversified business activities, the company was re-christened as GHCL Limited in the year 2003.

The Home Textiles Division has its processing plant at Bhilad (near Vapi) in the Valsad district of Gujarat. Apart from this it's a place next to Daman for personal rejuvenation and just 2 hrs away from Mumbai.
